The first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) in Singapore was reported in January 2020. On 11th March, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 a Global Pandemic. From January to April, the numbers of confirmed cases in Singapore and neighboring Southeast Asian countries, as well as Europe and the United States have been rising dramatically. The outbreak of COVID-19 had a severe impact on the economic development and people’s living in Singapore and worldwide.
From January to April 2020, Singapore continuously upgraded its prevention and control measures. From April 7, the government implemented a “circuit breaker” of which measures include the closure of schools and non-essential services, working from home, and strongly advised the public to stay at home and avoid going out unnecessarily.
