About the Association With the steady development of China enterprises in Singapore, eleven Chinese enterprises including Cosco Holdings (S) Pte Ltd, China Construction (South Pacific) Development Pte Ltd, Bank of China Singapore Branch and China Insurance (S) Pte Ltd proposed the establishment of China Enterprises Association (Singapore) with the support from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Republic of Singapore.
The establishment of the association (official opening on 2nd of Feb 1999) marks a milestone in the development of Chinese enterprises in Singapore. Up to date, China Enterprises Association (Singapore) has near 700 members, which are in such sectors as finance, trading, resources, shipping, air-transport, construction, education, Hi-Tech, Hotel and restaurant, representative offices, etc.
There are state-owned companies as well as provincial’s “Window companies” and small sized trading companies, among which quite a number of Chinese enterprises have already or in the process of floating on the Stock Exchange of Singapore and finance for China projects.
“One tree does not make a forest”, the establishment of China Enterprises Association (Singapore) signifies that Chinese enterprises in Singapore have an association that represents their interest.
Since its opening, the association has successfully organized series of activities aimed to provide help and promote public awareness for its members. The association has positively contributed to the development of Sino Singapore economic and trade relations.
